Sangeetha Saranathan spent over 8 years as an Investment Banker in Mumbai and New York. She came back to India and took a 2-year sabbatical, during which time she taught at a couple of Government schools. While teaching kids in grades 2-7, while poor learning outcomes were clearly apparent, she also understood the challenges faced by the school eco-systems on the ground, she also recognised how teacher behaviour could be better motivated by having the right kind of insights from data. Sangeetha runs an edtech startup called “WeThink” based out of IIT Madras, where data analytics and technology are used extensively to understand exactly why a child fails to grasp a particular concept. They also use insights from patterns in learning to train teachers on how to adapt different pedagogies in different classroom environments.
